Subject Details - 8 English as an Additional Language

Subject Length4 semesters
DescriptionThis course is designed for students who do not speak English as their first language. Students in this class will do 2 semesters of EAL English and 2 semesters of EAL Literacy. A Bilingual Student Support Officer (BSSO) will support in most English and Literacy classes. In the English line, the texts and tasks are similar to those of mainstream English, however the length and task requirements are adjusted to suit the student cohort. Wherever possible, learning is designed to enable students to maintain connections with their individual cultural background and experiences.

The extra line of literacy will provide students with additional lessons to support students to develop listening, reading, viewing, speaking and writing skills.
