DescriptionThis course allows students to explore the natural world via camps and excursions and examine the impact we as humans have on these natural environments.
TopicsStudents will cover the following topics:
- Rock-climbing
- Bushwalking
- Trangia Cooking
- Environmental Impacts/Conservation
- Compass and Topographical Mapping
- Group Dynamics
AssessmentType 1: About Natural Environments (40%)
Task 1: Human Impact of Bush walking (20%)
Task 2: Human Impact of Rock Climbing (20%)

Type 2: Experiences in Natural Environments (60%)
Task 3: 3-Day Bush walking Expedition (including Planning Phase) (40%)
Task 4: Group Dynamics in Rock-climbing (20%)

All tasks are 1000 words or 6 minutes for multi-modal presentations.

Additional InformationThis course incurs a Fee of $100, this fee covers all excursions and camps for the duration of the semester. Students who do not commit to this payment will be unable to enrol in this subject. This fee does not cover the food or clothing required for the camp.

Students must attend a 3-Day/2-Night camp which will include bush walking and no amenities (no toilet/shower/running water) as this is an assessable component of the course. Students should only choose this subject if they are willing to be active in all practical sessions.
