DescriptionStage 2 Physical Education consists of three key focus areas:
- In Movement
- Through Movement
- About Movement
TopicsTheoretical concepts will be linked to practical activities and form the basis of their assessment pieces.

Theoretical Concepts include any of the following:
Energy Systems
• Effects of Training on Physical Performance
• Specific Factors Affecting Performance
• Skill Acquisition
• Specific Factors Affecting Learning
• Psychology of Learning / Performing Skills
• Biomechanics for Skilled Performance

Practical based activities may include any of the following:
• Fitness Training Programs
• Badminton
• European Handball
• Kayaking
AssessmentStudents complete four/five assessment tasks across the three assessment types.

Assessment Type 1 (School Based): Diagnostics (30%) – 2 or 3 tasks
- These tasks combine theoretical knowledge, practical activities and data collection and analysis and each task is up to 1000 words or 6 minutes multimodal presentation.
- One of these tasks requires students to attend a 3-day, 2-night Kayaking camp in Port Vincent. Students will collect data on this camp to be used for their assessment.

Assessment Type 2 (School Based): Improvement Analysis (40%) – 1 task
- Evaluation
4000 words or 24 minutes multimodal includes evaluation, recommendations and reflection

Assessment Type 3 (External): Group Dynamics (30%) – 1 task
- 2000 words or 12 minutes multimodal
- This task involves students planning and participating in a European Handball tournament.

Suggested Prior LearningSuccessful completion (B Grade or higher) of at least one semester of Stage 1 Physical Education.
Additional InformationThis course incurs a fee of $100 to the cost of the 3-day, 2-night Kayaking camp when choosing from the options available for assessment.
