Description
This course focuses on the role of food preparation in maintaining good health and the importance of food safety and hygiene. In practical applications students learn a range of basic cooking techniques and skills.
Topics
Safe Management Practices
Students investigate safe management practices in relation to the correct storing, serving and handling of food.
Nutrition in Foods
Students develop an understanding of the Australian Guide to Healthy eating and how the consumption of the five food groups promote growth and wellbeing. Students use their development of basic skills to create nutritious and cost effective meals.
Assessment
Students are assessed against the Australian Curriculum Year 7/8 achievement standards
