DescriptionStage 2 Sport, Health and Physical Activity is studied as a 20-credit subject. Students develop, extend, and apply critical thinking and collaboration skills through inquiry about aspects of the program focus that are of interest to them. Students will make links between their learning and chosen capabilities. Activities relate to; health, fitness, injuries, coaching, umpiring, sports, community/event planning, fundraising, and recreation and/or leisure.
TopicsStudents provide evidence of their learning through five or six assessments, including the external assessment component. Students undertake:
• At least two practical inquiries
• At least one connections task
• One personal endeavour

Examples of possible activities include:
• Managing aspects of a sports organisation or competition within the school
• Organising a Pink Stumps Breast Care Awareness fundraising School event
• Completing a Basketball Umpiring Course with certification
• Completing an AIS Community Coaching General Principles Online Course with certification
• Practical Inquiry activities – Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball or Badminton

• Working with junior classes to develop and deliver programs
• Peer Coaching and mentoring
• Developing a deeper understanding of a variety of sports
• Organising and implementing a Sport/ Peer Coaching Day
• Developing a deeper understanding of factors which relate to sports performance management
