Subject Length	1 semester
Description	Students design and create projects that meet a design brief and develop the knowledge and skills associated with using a variety of wood hand and power tools. They combine their designing and creative skills with knowledge and understanding of materials, information and equipment to produce a high-quality timber project.
Topics	Students use a range of manufacturing technologies such as tools, machines, equipment and/or systems to design and make products with timber based materials.
Assessment	Assessment is school based. Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types: • Skills and applications task - 20% Students complete a materials investigation and a series of skills tasks. • Product - 60% Construction of a major and minor student designed project. • Folio - 20% Documentation of all stages of the design brief including details of planning, testing, producing and evaluating the product.
