They develop skills in analysis, locating, recording, analysing, synthesising and using knowledge to interact with other people and to solve problems, as well as the production of sophisticated texts. Students are expected to use Standard Australian English and accurate spelling and punctuation.
TopicsStudents undertake a minimum of four assessment tasks, at least one of which must be either a text analysis or a text production. At least one assessment should be an oral or multimodal presentation.
AT 1: Responding to Texts
AT 2: Creating Texts.

For their text response, students consider the ways in which creators and readers of texts use language techniques to make meaning and to influence opinions for a range of purposes and audiences. Students analyse ideas, values and beliefs and make connections with their personal experiences, ideas, values and beliefs.

When creating texts, students use language appropriately to convey meaning in a range of contexts. Their text creations should be fluent and precise and with a style and structure appropriate to both the audience and the context.
AssessmentAll work is assessed according to SACE Performance Standards resulting in a level of achievement A to E. Assessment is school based but subject to external moderation.
