Topics | There are three prescribed themes: The Individual The Italian-speaking Communities The Changing World

Assessment | Assessment Type 1: Interaction Students interact with others to exchange information, ideas, opinions, and experiences in Italian. Assessment Type 2: Text Production Students create text(s), in which they express ideas and/or information and/or opinions and/or feelings. Assessment Type 3: Text Analysis Students analyse and interpret a text or texts with a response or responses in Italian. Assessment Type 4: Investigation Students undertake an investigation demonstrating research and personal reflection on a cultural or social aspect or issue of a topic. The aspect or issue for research may be chosen by negotiation with, or at the direction of, the teacher. Students should complete both assessments for the investigation: an oral or written or multimodal response (e.g. a report, article, blog, presentation, talk, podcast, or website) a reflective response in English

Additional Information | Learning Languages develops overall literacy and is enhanced through the use of multimodal resources, digital environments and technologies in the target language. Students develop the personal and social capability and become open minded as they recognise that people view and experience the world in different ways. Students are taught explicitly to acknowledge and value difference in their interactions with others and to develop respect for diverse ways for perceiving and acting in the world. The development of intercultural understanding is a central aim of learning languages. |
