|Description||In this subject students develop the skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and information and communication technologies to create and engage effectively with a range of spoken, written, visual, and multimodal texts in the particular language. They develop and apply linguistic and intercultural knowledge, understanding, and skills by interacting with others and by creating and analysing texts. The focus capabilities for this subject are communication and citizenship.

|Additional Information||This course is for beginners — for students with little or no previous knowledge of the language. Eligibility for enrolment must be demonstrated for this course. Students will therefore need to show that they have little or no previous knowledge and/or experience of the language (whether written or spoken), and to sign a declaration to this effect.
Italian at beginners level is designed as a 2-year course of study for students who wish to begin their study of at senior secondary level. Students will have studied Italian at beginners level for 200 to 240 hours by the time they have completed Stage 2. Therefore, students develop their language skills and intercultural understanding at an intensive rate.
