DescriptionIn this elective, students develop their writing skills by creating a range of text types, such as poetry and description, as well as frequent formative prompts. This subject develops a range of skills including listening, reading, viewing, speaking and writing creatively. Lessons focus on the explicit teaching of text conventions and structures, and the development of skills that students will need to demonstrate in order to successfully create these texts. Students learn to incorporate a range of language techniques to create more exciting texts, challenging themselves to experiment with new forms of writing. They are encouraged to push the boundaries of traditional writing forms and break conventions. At the end of the course, students emerge as capable authors of both non-fiction and fiction genres.
