DescriptionThis subject develops a range of skills including listening, reading, viewing, speaking and writing creatively.
TopicsCreative Writing provides opportunities for students to:

• Listen to, read, view, speak, write, create and reflect on increasingly complex and sophisticated spoken, written and multimodal texts across a growing range of contexts with accuracy, fluency and purpose

• Appreciate, enjoy and use prose and poetry to develop a sense of their richness and power to evoke feelings, convey information, form ideas, facilitate interaction with others, entertain, persuade and argue by using language features and devices to suit the context.

This course gives students opportunities to experience creative writing through fiction and non-fiction texts. Students explore a range of different genres, text types and techniques to allow them to use language for thoughts, creativity, reflection, learning and self-expression with confidence.
AssessmentStudents are assessed against the Achievement Standards of the Australian Curriculum in Language, Literacy and Literature.
Additional InformationExcursions may cost extra. A USB storage device is desirable to allow students to work on tasks both in class and at home.
